This interactive workshop seeks to unpack the question, what does it mean to create classrooms that are in solidarity with people of color down your block and beyond colonial borders? It is geared toward educators who want to learn effective ways for creating inclusive classrooms that prioritize local community needs from a global perspective. This workshop highlights how two femme of color educators doing grassroots organizing work, through their creation of Women of Color in Solidarity, seek to unpack the intersections of our histories within the classroom. Using critical literacies and transnational solidarity as the engaged equity pedagogy, participants will walk away with tangible tools/activities, engaged readings, and newly formed answers on how to engage their students as global actors.
